 Dear Friends, Pigs suffering in silence on factory farms need your help. Recently, Mercy For Animals released shocking video footage secretly recorded by one of our undercover investigators at a Walmart pork supplier—revealing unfathomable cruelty to mother pigs and piglets. The video is heartbreaking. It reveals thousands of pregnant pigs confined to filthy, metal gestation crates so small they are unable to even turn around or lie down comfortably, workers slamming piglets headfirst into the concrete floor and leaving them to die, and sick and injured pigs with severe, bleeding wounds or infections left to suffer without veterinary care. After viewing these atrocities, Costco and Kmart decided to eliminate cruel gestation crates from their pork supply chains. Yet, Walmart refuses to do the right thing. Let’s send a clear message to Walmart—the world’s largest retailer—that animal abuse is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Other major food providers, including McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Safeway, and Kroger, have recently made commitments to eliminate gestation crate use by their suppliers. Yet, Walmart continues to support this horrific animal abuse by buying pork from factory farms that condemn intelligent and social animals to a lifetime of misery and deprivation inside tiny gestation crates, where they cannot even turn around or lie down comfortably.
