DONT STOP--THE FIGHT CONTINUES--

LET'S PUT ON THE PRESSURE--LET'S HOLD THESE CORRUPT POLITICIAN'S AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.WH&B Warriors - We can't let up. Now's the time to get in to your Senators and House Rep offices in your home states. Meet with key staff or the Congress members themselves, if possible. And/or find out if your Reps are having any Townhall meetings this month and plan to attend. Copy the suggested Handouts below to study, discuss and give to them at your meetings or at the Townhalls. You can also email/fax the handouts to your reps' in-state staff, but in-person visits are more effective.

Note:  Mark your calendars. A similar push with emails/faxes/phone calls needs to be done starting 9/6/11 when Congress is back in session in DC with the same messages below until they vote on the FY12 budget (should occur before 9/30/11) .

Here are the key messages that need to be driven home to Congress in the next few weeks:

1)  Stop the roundups/removals of WH&B temporarily - Ask your Senators and Reps to specifically defund the roundups/removals of WH&B through the FY12 DOI/BLM budget process. Justifications are on Handouts 1 through 8 attached. Note, Cong. Grijalva & 64 members of Congress recently asked Sec. Salazar for the roundups to be halted (Handout 8). Thank your Rep if he/she signed on to this critical letter.

(Note - The Report to Congress re Defunding the Roundups/Removals that is referred to in Handouts 1 and 6 is under the Resources section on the wildhorseaction google site.)

2)  Ask your Senators to co-sponsor S1176, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, if they haven't already. If they have, thank them on behalf of all domestic and wild horses and burros and the American people. The Act will end the transport and slaughter of all American horses, domestic and wild, for human consumption abroad. Justification on Handout 9 attached. Sponsor and co-sponsors on Handout 10.

Ask your House rep to co-sponsor a similar bill once it's introduced in the House.

3)  Ask your Senators to co-sponsor S1281, the Horse Transportation Safety Act, if they haven't already. The Act will end the use of double-deck trailers for the transportation of horses which is extremely inhumane and dangerous. Double-deck trailers were designed for short-legged, short-necked livestock. Sponsor and co-sponsors on Handout 11 attached.

Ask your House rep to co-sponsor a similar bill once it's introduced in the House.

4)  Handout 12 attached is a Petition form. Get as many signatures as possible (in your district for the House member, in your State for your Senators), copy them & take the original forms to your in-state meetings or deliver with the other Handouts at the Townhall meetings.

5)  To find your specific reps, go to the following:

6)  Please forward this email & attachments to your contacts. Also, please post the following link to FB, Twitter, groups and blogs so we can get more folks across the U.S. to take on this task. This link has all the above instructions and Handouts on the wildhorseaction google site:  http://tinyurl.com/42osxwj

As always, America's wild horses and burros thank you, Carla B ;--}
